Biography – Ken Zorniak, COO And Visual Effects Producer
Frantic Films is one of Canada's leading production companies and has been recognized for its creative abilities with an Emmy nomination, Signature, Can Pro, Promax and Blizzard Awards. As a result of its spectacular growth, Frantic has been named one of Canada's Hottest Startups, one of the Profit 100 (Profit Magazine's 100 fastest growing companies) and one of Manitoba's Fastest Growing Companies four years running. It was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003 and 2005 and has numerous other awards recognizing its innovation and success.
Ken Zorniak, the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Frantic Films, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and spent five years working for a large North American retailer before starting Frantic Films with Chris Bond in 1997. Ken's main responsibilities are producing and managing visual-effects projects, marketing the company, and maintaining general business operations.
As well as the COO and producer roles, Ken has been a key contact for business operations and managing the growth of the company. He has a key role in raising capital, increasing sales, creating key relationships with studios and production companies and leading his team to greater heights. He has helped build the business from two to over eighty-five staff in nine years and managed the expansion of the company's locations to Los Angeles, Vancouver and Sydney, Australia.
Ken is involved in all aspects of production and oversees all bidding for film, television and commercial projects. He plays a key role in the development and growth of the company as well as being an active liaison with clients, staff and artists. Recently, Ken executive produced visual effects for the Warner Bros. project Superman Returns which is an addition to Frantic Films' ever-growing roster of clients including Warner Bros. (Swordfish, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Catwoman, Poseidon), Paramount (The Core, Italian Job, Paycheck), 20th Century Fox (X2: X-Men United, Stay, X3: The Last Stand), and Universal (Idlewild).
Ken has played an integral part in establishing Frantic Films as a powerhouse for visual effects in the film and television industries. He has also worked to build a diversified company that includes live action production, commercial production and Frantic's newest division, software.
